test your butterfly clicking speed

This butterfly click test measures how fast you can click by alternating two fingers on one mouse button. The page is set to a 10 second left-click test — drum your index and middle finger on the button as fast as you can keep the alternation clean. The timer starts on your first click and ends with your average CPS, peak second and a per-second graph.

Butterfly clicking is the middle ground of speed techniques: faster than jitter clicking (15–20 CPS versus 10–14), far easier on your forearm, but more dependent on your mouse — aggressive debounce silently eats half your presses. If your score here barely beats your normal cps test result, suspect your hardware before your fingers. Compare it against the jitter click test to see which technique suits your hand, and read the full technique comparison for the trade-offs — including which servers allow it.

What is butterfly clicking?

Butterfly clicking is a technique where you alternate two fingers — usually index and middle — on the same mouse button. Each finger only handles half the click rate, so practiced butterfly clickers reach 15 to 20 clicks per second, roughly double a good jitter clicking score.

How do I butterfly click?

Rest your index and middle finger lightly on the left mouse button and drum them in strict alternation, like tapping a quick rhythm on a table. Keep both fingers low and relaxed — height costs speed. Start slow and even, then increase the tempo while keeping the alternation clean.

What is a good butterfly clicking CPS?

Beginners usually manage 10 to 12 CPS, which already beats most jitter clicking. With practice, 15 to 20 CPS is a realistic range, and exceptional butterfly clickers exceed 20. If your score is barely above your normal clicking, your fingers are probably colliding instead of alternating.

Why are some of my butterfly clicks not counting?

Mouse debounce. Mice ignore inputs for a few milliseconds after each click to filter electrical noise, and butterfly presses arrive close enough together to get swallowed. Gaming mice with low or configurable debounce times register far more of them — this is the technique where hardware matters most.

Is butterfly clicking allowed in Minecraft?

It depends on the server. Butterfly clicking can produce double clicks on some switches, and because that pattern resembles autoclickers, servers like Hypixel flag or ban it while others allow it. Check the rules of your specific server before using it in ranked or competitive play.
